GROWTH in home deliveries, from online market places to supermarket grocers, is seeing increasing pressure on vans fleets to stay mobile and limit downtime.
A van not working is a van not earning, and that seems to be increasingly the case. Fleets are moving to double-shifting their vans to asset-sweat their vehicles, particularly during a period of low availability of new vehicles. And to meet operational demands for their business.
However, to ensure vans keep running, fleets are turning to mobile servicing according to ATS Euromaster. The tyre and maintenance provider says it has seen the requirement for its mobile tyre service increase rapidly over the last two years.
Mark Holland, Operations Director, says with fleets maximising asset usage, and minimising the period a vehicle is off road, he expects the trend to increase over time.
But Mark says other factors are also at play:
The expectations of the market have moved on. People want the service to come to them. It’s part of the delivery service culture and the very vans providing the delivery service want the same service for their vans.

ATS Euromaster Mobile Service In Numbers
- 160 mobile fitting vans providing the service
- Most are fitted with electric (rather than diesel) compressors to reduce operational CO2 emissions
- The average tyre service takes 46 minutes from arrival
- ATS expects a25% increase in mobile demand in 2023
- And a further 10% uplift in demand expected in 2024
What Is The ATS Mobile Tyre Service?
There are four levels says the tyre replacement firm:
Standard Mobile Service – where a mobile unit will attend within 48 hours for pre-booked and non-emergency work, such as pre-planned tyre replacement.
Priority Mobile Service is for those van fleets where uptime is crucial but where the vehicle is not in a dangerous roadside situation.
Emergency Mobile Service addresses tyre-related emergencies, primarily at the side of the road or on a motorway, to get the vehicle safely back on the road again, as quickly as possible.
Mastercare is its proactive maintenance fleet check and rectify service. It ensures the busy fleet manager has a view of the fleet on a set basis and maximises the uptime.
