Say hello to…
…the Dacia Jogger a seven-seat family car that’s part estate, part SUV and part MPV, all with the added bonus of having an exceedingly low P11D price.
While there’s no plug-in hybrid or battery electric version of the Jogger there is a choice of petrol hybrid with 140hp or regular petrol engine with 110hp.
Dacia offers the Jogger in three trim levels:
- Essential
- Expression
- Extreme
Standard equipment on the Essential trim level includes auto headlights, 16-inch steel wheels, 3.5-inch digital instrument cluster, manual aircon, cruise control, rear parking sensors, speed limiter, powered front windows, front USB socket height adjustable driver’s seat, DAB radio, Bluetooth and 12v socket.
Expression adds body colour door handles, roof bars, rear tinted windows, centre arm rest with storage, 8-inch infotainment screen, auto wipers, auto aircon, keyless entry, front parking sensors, rear view camera, blind spot warning, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and uprated stereo.
Extreme adds a more off-road body-kit and styling, 16-inch alloys, uprated interior trim, extended grip mode, heated front seats, satnav, uprated stereo.
Is The Dacia Jogger Suitable For My Fleet
Pick the hybrid and emissions are a reasonably low 109g/km (26% BIK), which for a seven seater is only bettered by either a PHEV or full EV.
What makes this car appealing is the amount of interior space. In seven seat configuration it will take seven adults with a small 160 litre boot remaining, but in five-seat mode (with the third row folded) there’s a significant 565 litre boot. That third row is also removable. Do that and you’ve got a 696 litre space available – very impressive for a car that’s only just over 4.5-metres in length.
Leasing A Dacia Jogger
Intelligent Car Leasing is offering the Jogger Expression 1.0 TCe for £302 a month on a 3+36 contract with 10,000 miles per year. On the same basis Gensen Reports expects the running costs to come in at £32 a month and the Class 1A NIC at £52 a month.
Driving A Dacia Jogger
Not everything about the Dacia Jogger has to be judged against its list price of less than £20,000, but it is something to keep in mind.
The interior isn’t all soft-touch plastics as you’d expect in most modern cars, but the layout is logical and the construction is good. Nothing squeaks or rattles. And while there’s an infotainment touchscreen, there are still a good number of buttons for the majority of controls.
Although a particularly noisy rear wiper actuator does gives the game away to where some costs (sound insulation) have been saved.
On the move the Jogger is all about ease of use and comfort. And it’s very good at that, even compared to some much more expensive cars. It’s a car that really suits poorly maintained UK roads. The steering’s also light, making city use easy.
On B-roads there’s not much feel from the steering and there’s a fair amount of bodyroll in the corners, but then this is in no way a sporty car, so is absolutely fine. In fact, the lean in the corners gives the driver useful feedback about how the car’s behaving.
For motorway work the 110hp engine is fine with just a driver on board, but if you fill up the seats or add a lot of luggage, you’ll be wanting to change down gears on long inclines. But, again, this is only a small inconvenience and that 1.0-litre engine is pretty efficient. We averaged 43.7mpg in a mix of driving. Not bad for a seven seat estate car.
