Say hello to…
…the Skoda Superb Hatch, which costs £1,300 less than the Superb Estate and still offers a very generous boot.
The Superb, now in its fourth generation, is described by Skoda as its ‘flagship ICE vehicle’ and the hatch is available with traditional 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engines, and, for the first time, a 1.5-litre petrol mild hybrid.
All engines are mated to a seven-speed twin-clutch automatic gearbox and there’s also a 193PS diesel four-wheel drive version.
A new generation plug-in hybrid, currently available for the Superb Estate, will be introduced to the hatch at a later date.
The Skoda Superb hatch is available in four trim levels:
- SE Technology
- SE L
- SportLine
- L&K
Standard equipment on the SE Technology includes a 13-inch touchscreen display with satellite navigation, front and rear parking sensors with rear camera, and heated front seats with massage function.
The fleet-focused SE L adds ventilation to the front seats, leather upholstery and an electrically operated boot with virtual pedal.
Sportline features 19-inch polished black alloy wheels, sport seats, a three-spoke leather-wrapped multi-function sports steering wheel, and dynamic chassis control plus.
Top of the range L&K adds heated seats for rear passengers, a Canton sound system, Park Assist, and an area view camera system.

Is The Skoda Superb Hatch Suitable For My Fleet
Let’s face it, not all company car drivers are ready or able to make the switch to electric yet so a diesel model still has a place for high mileage drivers.
We didn’t get chance to test the 2.0-litre 150PS diesel on a long motorway journey but even on short stints of mixed driving it averaged 55.7mpg over the week, which lives up to its official WLTP combined figure (56mpg-54.8mpg).
The Superb has acres of room, even as a hatchback rather than an estate. Boot space has increased by 20 litres over its predecessor to 645 litres. That’s considerably more than rival the BMW 3 Series’ 480-litre boot.
To help company car drivers make full use of the luggage and storage compartments there’s a QR code in the boot which links to instructional videos.
This is just one of the Superb’s ‘Simply Clever’ ideas, which are meant to make drivers’ lives easier.
There are new Simply Clever features in the Superb like mobile phone pockets on the backs of the front seats, while popular features like the ice scraper in the fuel filler flap and the umbrella in the driver’s door are now made from sustainable materials.

Leasing A Skoda Superb Hatch
Gateway2Lease is offering the Skoda Superb SE L Hatch on a 9+36 lease for £380 a month with 10,000 miles a year. Gensen Reports predicts maintenance costs of £29 a month and Class 1A NIC payments of £115 a month.

Driving A Skoda Superb Hatch
All Superbs are automatics and a notable change with the latest model is that the transmission selector is now behind the steering wheel, freeing up space in the centre console.
Here you’ll find an all-new 13-inch infotainment screen, a ventilated wireless charging mat and three large rotary digital ‘smart dials’, for controlling air conditioning, seat heating or ventilation, infotainment, driving modes, map zoom and more.
Alternatively, you can use Skoda’s digital voice assistant Laura for certain functions. Laura now goes beyond basic voice commands, connecting to ChatGPT to answer general knowledge questions during your journey.
On the road the Superb is a comfortable and relaxing drive, with minimal wind noise in the cabin. We tested the 150hp diesel engine (rather than the more powerful 190hp) and found it had enough oomph for everyday driving.
For those looking for a more sportier set up, Skoda will be introducing a Sportline version later this year.
