Say hello to…
…the Suzuki Vitara, a name synonymous with, proper, off-road capable SUVs. The Vitara name has been in use in the UK since 1988 and has a loyal following for its no-nonsense approach to the sector. The current Vitara, mildly updated for 2025, is a 4.1m long family SUV, and one of the few in the market that’s offered with a proper, switchable, four-wheel drive system.
The current Vitara, tested here, isn’t to be confused with the forthcoming eVitara that uses the same name, but is an all-new, all-electric, slightly larger car.
Powered by a 1.4-litre petrol hybrid, the Vitara Allgrip is only available in Suzuki’s top specification called Ultra.
Standard equipment on the Ultra includes 17-inch alloys, adaptive cruise control, powered front and rear windows, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, keyless entry and start, suede upholstery, 9-inch infotainment screen, satnav, USB socket, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, powered folding door mirrors, 4-mode Allgrip system and rear privacy glass.

Is The Suzuki Vitara Suitable For My Fleet
Suzuki may not be a huge player in the company car space, but that doesn’t stop the Vitara being a suitable for business operators and drivers who need their SUV to have all-wheel drive and proper grip in the slippery stuff. We’re talking about those drivers who do need to access sites that are a little way off the paved road.
While a cash option may be the best due to the 31% BIK tax band, the Vitara’s practicalities and reliability – backed by a 10-year warranty – are unquestionable. There’s room inside for five, although rear legroom isn’t particularly impressive. And the boot is a healthy 362 litres.

Leasing A Suzuki Vitara
Gateway2lease is offering the Suzuki Vitara Allgrip for £447 a month on a 9+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year. If you’re covering 10,000 miles a year the Vitara has running costs of around £40 a month according to Gensen Reports. Class 1A NIC comes in at £78 a month.

Driving A Suzuki Vitara
Suzuki makes a big thing of producing cars that offer just what you want and need with no cost-adding frills that most drivers never use or want. And the Vitara follows this guiding principle and is all the better for it.
Step inside the Suzuki Vitara and, if you’re used to the latest crop of small family SUVs, you’d think that maybe the materials could be little more ‘soft touch’ and the design of the cabin a little more creative. But then you think everything is familiar, easy to use, there’s plenty of room up front and the materials are likely to be hard wearing.
It’s the same with the way the Vitara drives. It’s not a sporty car, but the handling is safe and predictable and the Vitara rides well on UK roads. Refinement, both from road noise and the engine, isn’t class leading, but equally it’s not poor either.
The brakes are reassuring, the visibility good and the steering is well above average for feedback, which makes the car easy to position on the road or manoeuvre when parking.
Overall, the Vitara is an easy car to recommend. It does everything you want from a small all-wheel drive car well without any modern-day annoyances.
