Say hello to…
…the Renault 5, a retro-styled yet ultra-modern all-electric five-door supermini. Available with two battery packs, either 40kWh or 52kWh, and these are linked respectively to two power outputs, 120hp or 150hp.
The Maximum charging speed also differs between the two versions at 80kW and 100kW, again, respectively.
The official range for each version is 192 miles and 250 miles.
Renault is offering the front-drive hatchback in three trim levels:
- Evolution
- Techno
- Iconic
Standard equipment on the Evolution includes 18-inch alloys, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10-inch infotainment screen, 2 USB sockets, rear parking sensors, heat pump, climate control and vehicle-to-grid capability.
Techno adds privacy glass, uprated stereo, rear view camera, drive modes and ambient lighting.
Iconic adds heated front seats, heated steering wheel, LED headlights and synthetic leather upholstery.

Is The Renault 5 Suitable For My Fleet
While superminis aren’t always the most fleet-friendly of vehicles due to their size and perceived suitability for motorway work, the Renault 5 punches well above it’s class.
There’s decent boost space at 380 litres, okay rear seat leg and head room and it sits quite happily at motorway speeds.

Leasing A Renault 5
Gateway2lease is offering the Renault 5 in Iconic trim for £337 per month on a 3+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year. Maintenance costs are forecast at £47 a month, according to Gensen Reports. The Class 1A NIC is £11.72 a month.

Driving A Renault 5
Renault is on something of a roll at the moment with its latest generation of cars and the Renault 5, is (so far) the peak.
Not only does the car look great – which means it’s in demand and will have strong residual values – but it’s a well thought out package and a fun car to drive.
Inside, the cabin is easy to understand and use. Renault’s infotainment system is logical and responsive and, as with other new Renaults, the 5 comes with a physical ‘Perso’ button allowing, with two quick presses, the driver to turn off the annoying speed warning alerts and lane keeping system. No manufacturer does this better at the moment.
The only time the car’s operating system is annoying is the speed of response for the drive mode button which can take so long that you think it’s not done what you ask and you press it again, only to find it’s skipped on two, rather than one, drive settings. You do learn to just be patient.
Cabin materials and construction are good so long as you’d don’t expect premium-level soft touch surfaces everywhere.
The driving experience follows the fun looks. Renault has judged the suspension set up perfectly. The car has a firm ride and minimal body roll in the corners, but it’s in no way uncomfortable.
The 5 also has enough compliance in the ride to make motorway work fuss-free too.
In terms of efficiency, the 5 is up there with the best cars we’ve tested. We saw an average of 4.3 miles per kWh after covering nearly 200 miles, a good proportion of which was motorway. That level of efficiency means a real-world range of well over 220 miles, which will be plenty for most people.
The all-round ability of the Renault 5 with so little to dislike makes this one of our favourite cars on FleetandLeasing.com
