Say hello to…
…the Porsche Cayenne plug-in hybrid, the largest of the sports car manufacturer’s SUVs. Power comes from a 3.0-litre V6 petrol coupled to an electric motor driving all four wheels.
As with its other models, Porsche links its power outputs to its trim levels.
Three specifications are available:
- standard
- S
- Turbo
Standard equipment on the entry level model includes 20-inch alloys, LED headlights, powered front seats, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, twin-zone climate control, cruise control and 40:20:40 split-fold rear seats.
S sees power rise to 519hp and the 0-60 drop to 4.4 seconds.
Turbo is even quicker thanks to a 739hp powertrain with a 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine. 0-60mph is 3.5 seconds. Additional equipment includes 21-inch alloys, Bose sound system, adaptive sports seats, powered steering column adjustment and Turbo styling kit.

Is The Porsche Cayenne Suitable For My Fleet
Base list prices look competitive, the Cayenne E-Hybrid starts at just over £86,000, but you will have to add a few choice options to deliver a specification worthy of the badge. However, solid residual values mean lease rates are still very keen.
The Cayenne is also efficient. We saw a real-world figure of 52.9mpg, just shy of the official 63.3mpg, but still impressive for a car that’s this fast and this large. Speaking of which, the boot’s a very generous 627 litres.
And because it’s a PHEV, the benefit-in-kind tax band is just 9%.

Leasing A Porsche Cayenne
Gateway2lease is offering the Cayenne E-Hybrid for £1037 a month on a 9+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year. Gensen Report forecasts maintenance costs of £54 a month, while Class 1A NIC comes in at £209 a month.

Driving A Porsche Cayenne
The Porsche Cayenne plug-in hybrid delivers a driving experience that feels carefully judged, blending luxury, technology and dynamic ability in a way that suits the car’s dual role as both family transport and performance SUV.
From behind the wheel, the immediate impression is of quality. The interior sets a high bar for materials and construction, with a solidity that feels engineered rather than decorative. The digital driver display and central infotainment screens are clear, fast to respond and logically laid out. They reinforce the sense that this is a car designed to be driven daily. Porsche’s decision to retain physical buttons on the steering wheel works well in practice, allowing key functions to be adjusted without taking your eyes off the road. The touch-sensitive controls on the centre console look sleek, but they are slightly less intuitive to use on the move, requiring a little more precision than ideal.
On the road, the Cayenne plug-in hybrid is impressively comfortable, particularly given its (optional) 21-inch alloy wheels. It deals with poor surfaces with composure, isolating occupants from bumps and road noise better than many rivals. Yet that comfort does not come at the expense of control. Through bends, the Cayenne feels stable and confidence-inspiring, with steering that remains accurate and reassuring. You are always aware of its considerable weight, especially when moving more quickly, but the chassis manages it well, preventing the car from ever feeling unwieldy.
The electric propulsion and petrol engine are very well combined. Only if you’re dawdling along and suddenly need to deploy all the power, does the gearbox and car’s brain take seem a little hesitant. However, if you’re already in one of the sportier drive modes this isn’t and issue.
Despite its size, the Cayenne is easy to place on narrow roads and surprisingly straightforward to park. Clear sightlines and responsive controls all contribute to reducing stress behind the wheel. The fact that lane-keeping and speed warnings can be easily switched off will also be welcomed by drivers who prefer a more natural, less intrusive driving experience.
Overall, the Cayenne plug-in hybrid feels polished, capable and thoughtfully engineered, delivering comfort and confidence in equal measure.
