Say hello to…
…the Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor (to give it it’s full title), which has just been added, from a price point of view, to the bottom of the 3 line-up. The 3 LRSM is not only the best value Polestar 3, with a P11D value of £69,845, but it also has the longest official range at 438 miles. Like the rest of the Polestar 3 line-up, it’s a large, all-electric, SUV (4.9m long) with a 107kWh battery that rivals the likes of the BMW iX, Mercedes EQE SUV and the Audi Q6.
The Polestar 3, which is a five seater, shares its underpinnings with the seven-seat Volvo EX90.
Polestar offers the 3 in a single trim level with option packs.
Standard equipment includes a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, 9-inch digital driver’s display, head up display, 4x USB sockets, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, heated wiper blades, panoramic roof, 3-zone climate control, heat pump, rear view camera, parking sensors, surround cameras, auto high beam and powered and heated door mirrors.

Is The Polestar 3 Suitable For My Fleet
Arguably, the LRSM version of the Polestar 3 is the most fleet-friendly version. It’s the least expensive and has the longest range. And while it’s down on power over the dual motor versions (483ho or 510hp), 295hp is plenty – particularly when it means the range is over 400 miles. Being the slowest accelerating Polestar 3 (0-60mph in 7.5 seconds), should also mean it’s better for insurance and maintenance costs.

Leasing A Polestar 3
Gateway2lease is offering the Polestar 3 LRSM for £862 a month on a 3+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year. Gensen Reports forecasts monthly maintenance bills of £45 and Class 1A NIC comes in at £28 a month.

Driving A Polestar 3
Looks can be deceiving. On its own, the Polestar 3’s styling makes it look smaller than it really is and does a good job of hiding its 4.9m length and 2.4 tonne weight. Parked next to other cars and the size is more apparent.
That size is also more apparent inside, again a good thing. As you’d expect, there’s loads of room up front, but there’s also acres of legroom for rear seat passengers even if the sloping roofline limits headroom for taller adults. The boot is a decent, if not amazing, size too at 484 litres. And while we’re talking storage space, there’s also a handy charge-cable front stowage area of 32 litres under the bonnet.
The cabin looks and feels luxurious with high grade wool seats – a refreshing change from vegan leather – and a clean, almost totally button-free dashboard. While this looks great, it’s also one of the 3’s weak points. The lack of physical buttons coupled to a menu system that isn’t the easiest to navigate – with some functions located too far into the operating system – can confuse. Some controls you’ll pick up with time and use, but others should be easier to operate swiftly such as the door mirrors. And the steering wheel mounted, unlabelled, touch-sensitive buttons are particularly confusing.
However, on the move, the rear-drive 3 experience is impressive.
Refinement and comfort are first rate. For the class of car, the suspension has been judged to perfection. The Polestar 3 isn’t a sporty car, it’s a luxurious car, but you can still really enjoy the driving experience if you want to.
While the LRSM version may not be as swift as the dual motor versions, it’s plenty quick enough for both nipping around town or nipping past slower traffic on A-roads.
The brakes are reassuring and progressive and you can choose from a selection of well-judged levels of energy regeneration.
Efficiency seems good and we’d expect to get close to the claimed 400+ range. However, we did only test the Polestar 3 for a shorter time and distance than usual.
The Polestar 3 is a highly appealing car and the LRSM version adds to its fleet viability.
