Say hello to…
…the Kia EV6 is an all-electric, large family hatchback which has just been updated for the 2025 model year. Battery and drive options remain the same with rear (225hp) and all-wheel drive (320hp) available and now a larger 84Wh battery, with (depending on model) an official range of up to 361 miles. That’s more than 30 miles more than before.
The latest EV6 also charges faster than before at up to 350kW.
Fleets can choose from three trim levels of EV6:
- Air
- GT-Line
- GT-Line S
As standard, Air specification includes 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, vegan leather upholstery, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, auto dimming rear-view mirror, smart cruise control, 60:40 split fold rear seats, four USB sockets, 12.3-inch driver display screen, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth, over-the-air updates, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, brake assist, city safety assist, drive modes, 5x USB-C sockets, vehicle-to-load, front and rear parking sensors and finger print start.
GT-Line adds GT exterior trim, rear privacy glass, adaptive headlights, powered seats with memory, vehicle-to-load, wireless phone charger, front parking sensors and blind spot sensor with cross traffic alert.
GT-Line S adds 20-inch alloys, uprated exterior trim, rear heated seats, cooled front seats, powered tailgate, uprated sound system, highway driving assist, head-up display and remote parking assist with 360-degree camera.
Is The Kia EV6 Suitable For My Fleet
The latest updates to the EV6 have made it even more suitable for fleets and company car drivers. As well as the facelift which freshens up the look of the Kia the increased maximum charge speed, now a genuine 350kW, and a slightly increased battery capacity are great news.
We drove the EV6 in freezing conditions – bad news for any electric car – and saw an efficiency figure of 2.5 miles per kWh. That would give a range of just over 200 miles. However, when we tested the pre-facelift car in slightly warmer conditions we recorded a 3.2 m/kWh figure and have no reason to doubt that the newer car would replicate this and give a near 300 mile real-world range.
As before, the EV6 is a usefully large car, too. There’s plenty of room for four adults thanks to impressive rear-seat legroom. Although taller drivers may want a fraction more headroom. The boot is also a decent size at 490 litres although it is quite shallow due to underfloor batteries and motor. And there’s an extra storage area under the bonnet that’s good for charge cables and the like.
Leasing A Kia EV6
Demand and a stylish design mean residual values are strong for the EV6 and that translates into a competitive lease rate. Intelligent Car Leasing is offering the EV6 at £535 a month on a 3+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year, that’s down nearly £100 a month from when we last tested the EV6 in 2023. Gensen Reports also claims maintenance costs will run to £31 a month.
Driving A Kia EV6
Kia’s upgrades to the Evy6 aren’t just to the exterior styling. Sit inside the revised car and there’s new materials and new lighting plus a fast wireless charging pad for your phone and fingerprint recognition to bring up your presets.
The main infotainment touchscreen remains but the software has been upgraded so that several functions are easier to operate such as switching in and out of Apple CarPlay. However, to fully turn off the lane-assist and speed limit warning noises still takes too many steps – even though you can programme the speed warning deactivation to be a single press of a steering wheel button. The touchscreen is also no longer the fastest to respond to inputs.
On the move, overall ride comfort and driver involvement are good if on the firm side. The seats are particularly comfortable and in top-spec GT Line S trim they offer heating and cooling.
While ride comfort is for the most part great, at town speeds over potholes and even smaller imperfections the car feels a little stiff and can be jiggly, however, the suspension is quiet. At motorway speeds and smoother surfaces, the ride is better.
That stiffer ride, and minimal body roll, translates into good handling, good body control and a fun drive if you want it to be.
As with the pre-facelift car, for those that like one-pedal driving, the EV6 has one of the best systems available. It has a totally smooth final stop and imperceptible transition between regen and real brakes. And for those that don’t like one-pedal driving, you can switch it off.
