Say hello to…
…the Kia EV5 is an all-new, all-electric, mid-size family SUV similar in dimensions to the Kia Sportage. All versions are fitted with an 81.4kWh battery giving an official range of well over 300 miles. Power goes to the front wheels and the EV5 is capable of 0-60mph in 8.4 seconds.
Fleets can choose from three trim levels of EV5:
- Air
- GT-Line
- GT-Line S
As standard, Air specification includes 18-inch alloy wheels, auto LED headlights, heated front seats, heated steering wheel, aircon, auto dimming rear-view mirror, smart cruise control, 60:40 split fold rear seats, four USB sockets, 12.3-inch driver display screen, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto and cloth upholstery.
GT-Line adds GT exterior trim, 19-inch alloys, rear privacy glass, powered boot lid, powered front seats, wireless phone charger, heated rear seats and uprated stereo.
GT-Line S adds uprated exterior trim, powered front seats with memory, vehicle to load, panoramic roof, uprated sound system and head-up display.

Is The Kia EV5 Suitable For My Fleet
Kia’s EV5 is a car that ticks all the ‘fleet’ boxes. It’s electric, so the BIK band is as low as you’ll get. The battery has a real-world range over 300 miles (the official figure is up to 313 miles, depending on trim). The EV5 has a maximum charge speed of 127kW, which is okay if not impressive in the sector. And there’s loads of room inside for passengers plus a massive 566 litre boot including some hidden under-floor space and a useful 44 litre frunk.

Leasing A Kia EV5
Gateway2lease is offering the EV5 at £437 a month on a 3+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year. Gensen Reports also claims maintenance costs will run to £26 a month. Class 1A NIC comes in at £17 a month.

Driving A Kia EV5
On the road, the EV5 is notably quiet, even by electric vehicle standards in this sector. Road and wind noise are well suppressed, creating a relaxed environment that suits long journeys as much as urban driving. The suspension strikes an excellent balance between comfort and control, dealing with broken surfaces and speed humps with little fuss. Impacts are absorbed quietly, and body roll is kept to a minimum, giving the car a reassuring feel through corners.
Efficiency is another strong point, we saw a 3.3 miles per kWh on the trip computer during our test which equates to 269 miles range, that’s a little off the official figure, but temperatures were only just above freezing. The EV5 feels adept at managing its energy use without the driver needing to think about it, reinforcing its suitability as an everyday family EV. Braking performance is particularly impressive, with a progressive pedal that inspires confidence and makes smooth driving easy to achieve, whether in traffic or at speed.
Inside, the EV5 continues to impress. While some of the materials are technically hard-wearing rather than soft-touch, they feel premium and well finished. Kia has made good use of contrasting colour accents to lift the cabin, and visibility is excellent in all directions, contributing to a sense of ease when manoeuvring or driving in busy environments. The driver’s seat is highly supportive and comfortable, though the headrest sits a little close to the head, which some drivers may notice on longer trips.
Kia’s warning systems are straightforward to disable, avoiding unnecessary frustration, and the drive modes behave exactly as you’d expect, offering clear and useful changes in character without gimmicks.
Taken as a whole, the Kia EV5 is, quite simply, a very well-rounded electric SUV that delivers where it matters most.
