Say hello to…
…the Kia EV2 the Korean brand’s latest all-electric mid-size car that’s rivals the Renault 5, Fiat Grande Panda, Geely EX2, Mini and a host of other B-segment EVs.
The Kia EV2 is available with a choice of two battery sizes; a 42.2kWh pack and a 61kWh pack the standard range car is only available in entry level Air specification, while the larger battery is available in all three trim levels.
- Air
- GT-Line
- GT-Line S
As standard, Air specification includes 16-inch alloys, 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, climate control, front and rear parking sensors, reversing camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 4x USB sockets, cloth upholstery and adaptive cruise control.
GT-Line adds 19-inch alloys, faux leather upholstery, privacy glass, driver’s lumbar support, wireless phone charger, LED headlights and rear privacy glass.
GT-Line S adds heated seats, ventilated front seats, surround view, sunroof and an uprated stereo.

Is The Kia EV2 Suitable For My Fleet
With an official range of 261 miles from the 61kWh battery a decent boot of 360 litres and more than generous standard kit for a car in this class, the Kia EV2 ticks all the boxes for fleets looking for an electric supermini.
We also saw a very impressive real-world range of 280 miles, 19 miles above the official figure thanks to an excellent efficiency figure of 4.6 miles per kWh.
The max charge speed of 118kW is also good for the sector.

Leasing A Kia EV2
Gateway2lease is offering the Kia EV2 in GT-Line trim, with the 61kWh battery, for £329 a month on a 3+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year. At £329 a month, that’s more than £40 a month less than the Fiat Grande Panda which has a far lower real-world range, shorter warranty and is less well equipped. Gensen Reports forecasts maintenance costs for the EV2 at £27 a month. Class 1A NIC comes in at £18 a month.

Driving A Kia EV2
When it comes to how it drives, the EV2 is just about spot on as a small electric car. It combines an excellent ride with good body control and feels more polished and substantial than many of its rivals.
The ride comfort is one of its strongest points, soaking up poor road surfaces well, while keeping body roll controlled in the corners. The entry-level Air model, with its smaller wheels, is a little less precise on the road than the higher-spec versions on 19-inch alloys, but it remains comfortable and easy to drive.
The brakes are progressive and natural. Kia gives drivers several levels of regenerative braking, including a full one-pedal mode. GT-line models and above also get selectable drive modes, allowing the driver to alter the car’s responses, although really, Comfort mode is the way to go for day-to-day driving.
Overall, the Kia EV2 (like the next-size-up EV3) is just a very well designed and engineered supermini that has the feel of a car in a class above, something most rivals fail to achieve.
If there’s a weakness, it’s that turning off the various unwanted ADAS systems take too many steps through the infotainment system. It’s not as bad as some, but it’s one area it’s not class leading.
