Say hello to…
…the Jeep Compass a mid-sized SUV from the legendary US off-road brand. However, tested here as the fully electric version with front wheel drive and eco tyres, it is less likely to to be off-road capable than some of the other variants within the range which have all-wheel drive. In the front-drive EV, power comes from a 74kWh battery driving a 213hp motor. Official range stands at 289 miles.
Two trim levels, plus a launch edition, are available:
- Altitude
- First Edition
- Summit
Standard equipment on the Altitude includes 19-inch alloys, auto high beam, power-fold door mirrors, cloth trimmed seats, front heated seats, satnav, two-zone climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10-inch digital driver’s display, drive modes and front and rear parking sensors.
First Edition adds 20-inch alloys, front fog lights, privacy glass, wireless phone charger, powered boot lid and rear camera.
Summit adds (over Altitude) illuminated grille, 20-inch alloys, front fog lights, heated seats, heated steering wheel, rear camera and premium seats.

Is The Jeep Compass Suitable For My Fleet
The electric version of the Compass is exactly what a user-chooser customer needs it to be; it has all the rugged looks of an off-roader but none of the four-wheel-drive downsides that impact benefit-in-kind taxation. There’s also decent room inside for people and luggage and in a world overloaded with mid-size SUV’s the Jeep stands out, which should help residual values.

Leasing A Jeep Compass
Gateway2lease is offering the Jeep Compass Full Electric in Summit trim for £473 a month on a 3+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year. Forecast maintenance costs come in at £36 per month, according to Gensen Reports. Class 1A NIC comes in at £22 month.

Driving A Jeep Compass
The Jeep Compass in full EV form makes a strong first impression from behind the wheel. It feels genuinely distinctive in a crowded SUV market.
Its raised driving position, clear view of the car’s corners and easy-to-place dimensions make it particularly straightforward to manoeuvre around town.
Ride comfort is a real highlight. Jeep has sensibly prioritised compliance over outright handling sharpness, so the Compass deals with rougher surfaces well and remains pleasantly settled. It is not a B-road sports SUV, and there is some body roll through quicker bends, but that movement is progressive and informative rather than unsettling. The Compass is predictable, composed and easy to trust when cornering.
Efficiency is impressive in everyday driving, too. We saw 3.9 miles per kWh, which is an excellent real-world result for this type of family SUV.
The front-wheel-drive layout is less surprising in the wider electric SUV market than it might once have been, although it feels slightly at odds with the Jeep badge and the Mud, Snow and Sand drive-mode settings. Particularly as the Compass rides on efficiency-focused tyres rather than all-season or more off-road-oriented rubber, its adventures are likely to remain fairly gentle.
One frustration is the Stellantis group’s traffic-sign recognition system, which continues to be among the least accurate we have tested. Thankfully, it does little to detract from an otherwise comfortable, efficient and approachable driving experience.
