Say hello to…
…the Audi Q6 is an all-electric SUV that rivals the Tesla Model Y and other mid-size EVs. The Q6 etron is Audi’s latest EV and is available in three power outputs; 252hp, 306hp and 388hp. However, the lower two outputs have an ‘overboost’ function for launch control that increases power to 292hp and 326hp respectively.
There are two main trim levels
- Sport
- S-line
Standard equipment on the Sport model includes 19-inch alloys, drive modes, comfort suspension, LED headlights with auto high-beam, powered and folding door mirrors, manual front seats, heated front and outer rear seats, leather upholstery, three-zone climate control, 14.5-inch infotainment screen, 11.9-inch driver’s display, 2x USB sockets, wireless phone charging, 360-degree camera and a heat pump.
S-Line adds 20-inch alloys, S-line front bumper, privacy glass, heated steering wheel and S-line trim.
Is The Audi Q6 etron Suitable For My Fleet
Electric premium SUVs are the heartland of business motoring, so the Audi Q6 is in the right space. It’s also one of the fastest charging EVs in the sector with a max speed of 270kW which is great for those covering higher miles and using public charging. What’s not quite so great is the efficiency.
Official figures show the Q6 has a range of 340 miles from a 94.9kWh (usable) battery capacity, that’s very nearly 3.6 miles per kWh – impressive for a heavy (2,325kg) EV. However, we were achieving 2.4m/kWh over a mix of local roads and motorways in cool, but not freezing weather. At this level the real-world range is just 228 miles; okay, but not what you’d call impressive.
The boot is an excellent size and looks bigger than the official 526 litres.
Leasing An Audi Q6 etron
Intelligent Car Leasing is offering the Audi Q6 quattro S-line with the 94.9kWh battery for £1,074 a month on a 3+36 contract with 10,000 miles a year. Gensen Reports forecasts a monthly maintenance cost of £46 on the same 10,000 mile-a-year basis.
Driving The Audi Q6 etron
Judging by the interior of the Q6, Audi is currently delivering the best quality interiors in the class. Both the materials used and the construction is stunning. And this conveys an immediate feeling of luxury to the Q6 experience.
This feeling of luxury continues with the level of refinement when you’re on the move. Almost all EVs are quiet when driving, but Audi has taken this up a notch and there’s minimal road or wind noise even at motorway speeds.
Above 40mph the ride comfort is similarly impressive, however, at town speeds the suspension doesn’t quite settle down. The Q6 comfort level isn’t harsh, but it can, on the UK’s poor quality local roads, feel a bit jiggly.
The Q6 offers one-pedal driving with regeneration capable of bring the car to a full stop, however for a smoother experience it’s best to leave the regen in auto mode which does an excellent job of judging what’s ahead and when the car should roll and when it should regenerate power from the brakes. The brakes themselves are excellent and offer a linear progression that makes driving smoothly easy.
Audi should also be praised for the ease with which the lane keeping assist and speed limit warning can be deactivated. Just a couple of (physical) button presses does the job each time you start the car.
Steering feedback isn’t particularly impressive, but it is well-weighted and feels natural. This helps make positioning the car on the road easy and on twistier roads offers some fun.
Back inside the Q6, the rear seats are big enough for taller adults, although the batteries in the floor mean your knees can be a bit higher than you’d want.
Overall, the Audi Q6 is a seriously appealing proposition. The quality and feel of the interior alone could be enough for some to pick the car. If the range is better in warmer months, then the Q6 is a recommended car in the class.
FleetandLeasing.com Verdict On The Audi Q6 etron
A lovely car to be in and impressive specification on paper, but is a fast charge speed enough to counter lower efficiency?
