Say hello to…
…the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, the quick version of the all-electric supermini-sized SUV. Alfa Romeo has injected some fun the B-SUV thanks to a 280hp motor and a few mechanical changes to make sure that power isn’t wasted. The main upgrade is a front limited slip differential that makes sure one front wheel doesn’t spin all the power away. It’s particularly useful when cornering.
Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloys, 10.25 inch infotainment screen, 10.25 inch driver’s display, wireless smartphone mirroring, adaptive cruise control, climate control, drive modes, heat pump, keyless start, auto wipers and rear parking sensors, satnav, uprated stereo, powered driver’s seat, powered boot lid, reversing camera, heated front seats, keyless entry, tinted rear windows and a sports styling kit.

Is The Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce Suitable For My Fleet
As we said when we first drive the regular Junior, the desirability of the Alfa brand gives the small SUV added user-chooser appeal in the fleet market. The Veloce ups this even further. While hot-hatches aren’t typically fleet fodder, the fact the Junior is all-electric (and has power and performance well below some larger electric cars) means it ticks a lot of company car boxes.

Leasing An Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce

Driving An Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce
Alfa Romeo knows how to make a fan, fast car. Many manufacturers offer fast EVs, but it’s the fun bit that is lacking in the sector. Until now only the Hyundai Ioniq 5N and the Abarth 500 have really captured what’s needed to entertain electric car drivers.
While the Junior Veloce is quick-ish, 0-60mph is possible in 6.0 seconds, this isn’t what makes the car fun. Instead it’s the overall experience. Get into the car and you immediately notice how supportive the seats are and how chunky the, stitched leather-like, steering wheel is.
Start driving and the experience just gets better.
Impressively, the steering provides feedback about what’s going on at the front wheels, and the steering weight is very well judged.
Show the car some corners and the Junior feels far more ‘alive’ than any other regular small SUV.
All this ‘engagement’ means you’re likely to drive less efficiently than other small SUVs too. However, we recorded a figure of 3.2 miles per kWh over a week’s driving. Not bad at all, but when combined with a small battery – the Junior Veloce uses the same 51kWh unit that’s in the rest of the line-up – the result is a real-world range of about 163 miles. Not great, but you wouldn’t buy this car if you were a high-mileage user. It’s much more a user-choose option.
Overall, Alfa has delivered a car that’s loveable, fun, quickish and highly entertaining. Rivals may go further or even be quicker, but few have the same level of driving entertainment and overall appeal.
