DRIVERS choosing a salary sacrifice car are heading for the Audi Q4 e-tron electric SUV rather than Tesla’s Model 3, a new report indicates.
The Tesla Model 3 has been a longtime chart topper says Fleet Evolution, a salary sacrifice provider, but it’s now been edged by the Audi, part of the Volkswagen Group.
In fact, Volkswagen Group models are proving highly popular, with six different Group models in the top 10, and the Porsche Taycan taking third place.
Explaining the latest figures, Fleet Evolution Founder and Managing Director, Andrew Leech, said:
We are having a record year, with orders up 150% on last year when a number of lockdowns and a huge amount of uncertainty caused by the Covid pandemic put a stranglehold on orders.
But, with more certainty, the nationwide vaccine roll-out and a return of business and consumer confidence, we have seen orders rebound very strongly as more employees realise what an attractive proposition an EV on salary sacrifice is.
However, what is becoming increasingly apparent, especially in the last six months, is the domination by Volkswagen Group of our EV order bank, with an array of new models coming increasingly to the fore.
Leech said the company now had 400 businesses varying in size between 3000 to 10,000 employees. Describing the Tesla Model 3 as a ‘quirky proposition’, Leech said customers were now faced with a much wider choice of vehicles more aligned to current vehicle tastes such as SUVs.
He also added that in a competitive labour market, offering an attractive salary sacrifice scheme was another way of enticing top talent.
