FOR builders, property developers and premium truck enthusiasts, the site of this – a sketch of the new Volkswagen Amorok – will be welcome news.
Out of the UK market since 2020, the new model looks every inch the muscular Amarok, bulked up by 10cm in length (5.35m) and wider in the body.
It will be powered by a V6 TDI engine and offer even better off-road capability in part thanks to greater ground clearance.
Albert-Johann Kirzinger, Head of Design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, commented:
We emphasise the different, expressive front designs of our pick-up with a charismatic Amarok signature that is also found with very large letters on the cargo box at the rear and is sported very proudly by the Amarok. The styling bar as a visual extension of the double cab in the cargo box once again gives the Amarok’s body dynamic, aerodynamic and very strong proportions.
A Euro pallet fits between the wheel housings with securing hoops.
The Amarok is due to be launched in summer 2022 in Europe before coming to the UK.
The vehicle is built on the same platform as the Ford Ranger pickup, part of an agreement between VW and Ford to share engineering across strategic models.
