Jeep’s first pure-electric model has been revealed, ahead of its planned introduction in the first half of 2023. The model will kick-start a wholesale electrification push from the American manufacturer.
Shown as part of a Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan presentation by parent firm Stellantis, CEO Carlos Tavares revealed that it plan sfor 100% of the group’s European sales will be fully-electric by 2026.
Jeep will play an important part in that with the as yet unnamed model due to become a compact SUV, sitting at or below the level of the Renegade.
Featuring more grown-up styling than the current smallest Jeep, the EV will still feature the firm’s famous grille, only closed off due to reduced need for cooling.
It’s unclear how far the electric Jeep would cover on a charge, how much power it will feature, or even if it will be four-wheel drive – an immovable attribute for Jeep in the past.
Technical details, specifications, and UK pricing will be announced closer to launch.
