A NEW carbon calculating tool allows SME fleet managers to check the total carbon of company car fleet choices.
Made available by Drivesmart, it’s called a Carbon Footprint Calculator and does exactly what it says on the tin: it allows site visitors to compare side-by-side the annual carbon footprint of petrol, diesel and hybrid cars and vans against electric (EV) alternatives.
Drivers from SME firms looking to lease a new car or van can see the impact of engine choice on their annual carbon footprint, which is displayed in annual tonnes of CO2 based on lease mileage profile. Russell Thoms, Director of Drivesmart, commented:
Before drivers lease a vehicle, they can make a more informed acquisition decision based on the environmental impact of internal combustion engines measured against electric vehicles. The Carbon Footprint Calculator even allows users to separate their mileage into the WLTP urban, suburban, rural and motorway mileage cycles to see the impact of different mileage patterns on total annual CO2 output.
Thoms adds that fleet managers can also use the tool to assess the impact of fuel changes to an SME company car fleet.
The new Drivesmart Carbon Footprint Calculator is free to use and, says the company, includes data on over 14,000 new cars and vans.
