A NEW road risk management business, Safe2Drive, has developed a platform to help SME fleets manage the personal use of cars on business – also known as the “grey fleet”.
Allan Gibbons, Safe2Drive founder, emphasises the importance of a sophisticated and auditable platform for businesses with employees driving as part of their role.
He states: “Every business needs to ensure they are operating within a strict legal framework — it is their fundamental responsibility. Businesses can be fined if they cannot demonstrate that their drivers have a valid driving licence, have insurance, and that the vehicles they are driving are legally compliant.”
Gibbons also highlighted the growing risk of “Grey Fleet” drivers, who use their own cars for company business. He stressed the need for these vehicles to be visible within a company’s compliance reporting to meet regulatory requirements.
The Safe2Drive platform enables both fleet managers and employees to jointly manage the exchange of information via an app, ensuring secure levels of governance and legal compliance. It offers bespoke reporting tailored to the unique needs of each business, allowing fleet managers to monitor and manage their drivers’ driving licence, insurance, and vehicle compliance.
Furthermore, the platform provides data on “Grey Fleet” vehicles, determining their legal compliance, safety, and environmental impact, which can assist with business analysis.
Gibbons added that the road risk management platform integrates into existing business systems and incorporates the client’s corporate branding for a cohesive user experience.
