EV8 Technologies, an electrification technology company, has joined the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP).
The business says it is increasing its focus on supporting UK fleets through the operational and commercial challenges of fleet electrification.
Fleet operators are facing growing pressure around decarbonisation, vehicle replacement cycles, infrastructure investment and rising energy costs, while still needing to maintain operational continuity and control capital expenditure.
EV8 says it can assist fleets through its EV8 Switch platform, which uses real-world telematics and operational data to help businesses understand which vehicles should transition first, the likely total cost of ownership, charging infrastructure requirements and the operational impact of electrification.
EV8 was originally founded by Kearney as a joint venture with Cenex to provide fleet electrification intelligence and optimisation tools.
What Does EV8 Offer Fleets?
According to EV, the platform is aimed at mid-sized fleets, where internal electrification modelling capability may be limited, but the financial and operational risks attached to poor planning can be significant.
Felix Mackenzie, Chief Commercial Officer at EV8, said:
“Fleet electrification has moved well beyond simply replacing ICE vehicles with EVs. Fleet operators are now dealing with infrastructure planning, energy costs, operational resilience and long-term investment decisions, often all at once.
“What we see consistently is that many businesses have the data available, but not necessarily the tools or modelling capability to turn that data into confident decisions. That is where EV8 Switch is focused, reducing decision risk with a sole focus on helping operators understand what works commercially and operationally for their business.”
Mackenzie added that EV8 was an intelligence layer between fleet operations and energy infrastructure, rather than as a charging provider or consultancy-led modelling business. “It’s an important distinction as fleets seek more impartial support around electrification strategy,” he said.
Felix added:
“The AFP plays an important role in bringing together practical fleet expertise from across the industry. For us, membership is about contributing to those conversations, understanding the operational realities fleet managers are facing and supporting the wider transition in a way that is commercially grounded.”
