CONGRATULATIONS to Sarah Simpson, who has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of sports car maker Porsche Cars GB, as well as the brand’s retail group.
Simpson, who takes up her post on 01 September, 2021, said she was excited to get started.
Commenting on her appointment, Simpson said:
“The team at Porsche – both in Reading and in our Porsche Centres across the country – have an excellent reputation. It is a truly exciting time to join the brand, as it progresses further on the path to electrification, while continuing to offer emotive petrol-powered products such as the 911 GT3.”
It means that Marcus Eckermann, current CEO, is moving on to a – currently unspecified – new role with Porsche AG.
Sarah Simpson has worked for the Volkswagen Group for more than 20 years, the past decade with Bentley Motors. Joining the company as Operations Director, Simpson became Regional Director for Bentley’s home market, the UK in 2014.
The UK is Porsche’s fourth largest market. While the Porsche Macan SUV was its best-seller in 2020, with the Taycan in second, the roles have been reversed in 2021 as businesses start to take advantage of the tax benefits of electric vehicles.
