MATTHEW Boswell (left) has been named as the Managing Director of the newly combined Leasys and Free2move Lease leasing companies in the UK.
Formerly the Managing Director of Free2move Lease, he is joined by David Robertson as sales director of the new business. David previously led Leasys UK.
The new Leasys leasing and mobility business is the result of owner Stellantis rationalising its brands to create a mobility giant. Leasys is co-owned by Stellantis and French bank Credit Agricole.
According to the company, it wants to have an overall fleet of 1 million across Europe by 2026 and to be the leading leasing company in Europe.
In the UK, the combined fleet assets amount to 76,562 which would place the leasing company at eighth in the current FN50 league of top leasing companies.
The new Leasys promises to offer customers innovative mobility solutions but at its heart is long-term leasing which it sees will help the transition to electrification.
It points to a study carried out by the research firm Frost & Sullivan, which noted that the total number of rental and releasing contracts signed in Europe increased by 6.2% in 2022 and, according to the estimates of the main organisations dealing with automobiles, will continue to grow over 2023 thanks primarily to the electric vehicle sector.
Despite the pandemic, leasing contracts linked to eco-friendly vehicles doubled, going from more than 400,000 to over 840,000.
Leasys said it would achieve its ambitious target by relying on the European network of Stellantis dealers, independent leasing brokers, as well as direct sales with larger clients. Digital channels would be a further enabler, allowing the company to both promote its products and allow fleet managers to manage their vehicles with full autonomy.
The current combined fleet size of the business across Europe is 828,000 vehicles. Leasing offers to SME fleets will be multi-brand and not just confined to Stellantis models.
Other Leasys mobility solutions being offered are:
- Be Free – a long-term rental where you can return a car after one year with no penalties;
- Leasys Miles – the first long-term rental pay-per-use solution which allows customers to pay only for the miles driven;
- AS NEW – this is a used-vehicle rental that promotes the circular economy and ensures its offers are accessible to different target customers;
- and Leasys PRO, which offers customised commercial vehicles according to customer requirements.
