Say hello to…
…the KGM Torres EVX, the all-electric version of the Torres family SUV. The Torres takes its name from the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, while the ‘X’ denotes ‘extreme’, according to the South Korean car manufacturer (formerly SsangYong).
Like the petrol Torres, there are two trim levels to choose from:
- K30
- K40
The K30 comes with Tom Tom navigation (not standard on the petrol Torres), front and rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto, a heated steering wheel, and a number of safety features, including driver attention alert and lane keeping assist.
The K40 adds a 360-degree camera, a powered tailgate, a range enhancing heating system and more advanced safety tech. As with the petrol Torres, the K30’s 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels are upgraded to 20-inch with the K40.

Is The KGM Torres EVX Suitable For My Fleet
The Torres EVX has a 73.4kWh battery, supplied by BYD, with a range of 287 miles. The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in 42 minutes using a rapid charger (100kW). With a 11kW charger it takes nine hours to charge from 0% to 100%.
We averaged a respectable 3.4miles/kWh, which equates to 250 miles, and that was using the EVX in its default ‘Comfort’ mode setting.
Boot space in the Torres EVX, like the petrol version, is an impressive 703 litres with the seats in place and 1,662 litres with the 60:40 rear seats folded. That outdoes rivals, although the Skoda Enyaq’s 585 litres stretches to 1,710 litres with the seats folded.

Leasing A KGM Torres EVX
Gateway2Lease is offering the KGM Torres EVX K40 on a 9+36 lease for £412 a month with 10,000 miles a year. Gensen Reports predicts maintenance costs of £38 a month and Class 1A NIC payments of £13 a month.
Driving A KGM Torres EVX
The Torres EVX is more powerful than the petrol version, boasting 204bhp and 339Nm versus 161bhp and 260Nm. It achieves 0-62mph in 8.1 seconds – two seconds faster than the petrol Torres and on a par with other EVs of this size.
There are four driving modes to choose from: Comfort, Sport, Eco and Winter. We mainly tested the Torres EVX in Comfort mode as it felt a little sluggish with the Eco setting.
Switching from drive to reverse or vice versa is slightly more awkward than in other EVs as you go into neutral first.
That aside, the Torres EVX is pleasant to drive, with light steering and good visibility thanks to its high seating position.
The interior layout of the Torres EVX mirrors the petrol version with two big screens and the same bronze textured trim, which adds interest to an otherwise minimalist interior.
