Say hello to…
…the Geely EX2, an all-electric supermini set to rival cars such as the Fiat Grande Panda, Mini, Renault 5, Nissan Micra, Kia EV2 and a whole host more.
Geely is offering the rear-drive EX2 with two battery packs, a 35kW and a 47kWh. The smaller battery version is only available with the entry ‘Pro’ trim level and has an 82hp motor. The 47kW battery is mated to a 116hp motor.
In total there are three trim levels available:
- Pro
- Max
- Ultra
Standard kit on the Pro includes 16-inch alloys, 14.6-inch infotainment screen, satnav, keyless entry and go, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power-fold door mirrors, auto high-beam, 2x USB sockets, keyless entry and start, drive modes, privacy glass and a host of driving assistance systems.
Max just indicates the Pro equipment but with the larger battery.
Ultra adds two-tone paint, auto wipers, 360-degree camera, wireless charging, powered boot lid, heated steering wheel and heated front seats.

Is The Geely EX2 Suitable For My Fleet
Superminis were traditionally less attractive to fleets due to their smaller size and limited ability to cover higher mileages in comfort. However, the latest crop of diminutive EVs has changed that. The packaging means there’s room inside more akin to a family hatch and the EV torque means they’re a more relaxed drive. All this applies to the EX2. It’s got a 375 litre boot, plenty of legroom in the back for adults and the motor’s shove means it’s not

Leasing A Geely EX2
The Geely EX2 isn’t showing lease rates yet on the comparison sites, however, Geely itself is offering some attractive 0% PCP offers at around £300 for the Ultra with 6,000 miles a year and a £2,000 deposit.

Driving A Geely EX2
Geely’s EX2 makes a strong case for itself from behind the wheel given its intended audience. It’s not particularly quick, but that’s not a criticism for a small electric car aimed at affordable everyday motoring. More importantly, it rides really well, with a comfortable, composed feel that makes it easy to drive around town and on longer journeys.
The steering is extremely light, which reinforces the EX2’s focus on comfort rather than sportiness. It’s easy to manoeuvre and undemanding to drive, which is arguably more useful than an involving drive in a family supermini.
Efficiency is another highlight. Our test car averaged an impressive 4.6 miles per kWh, and that was without making any particular effort to drive economically. Combined with its competitive price, this makes the EX2 an appealing proposition for drivers looking to keep running costs down.
There’s plenty of practicality, too. The boot is a good size and there’s additional storage in the frunk, while rear-seat space is surprisingly generous for a car of this size. Even adults around the same size as the driver can sit behind them without feeling cramped.
The EX2 also comes well equipped, although there are a few signs of cost-cutting. There’s just one USB socket for rear passengers, for example, and the driver’s display is less than impressive. Like many Chinese cars, it uses a generic digital instrument layout that doesn’t make particularly good use of the available screen space. The speed is displayed relatively small and off to one side, while the central area is given over to lane-keeping and ADAS information that isn’t particularly useful during normal driving. The trip computer information is also displayed in a very small font, making it difficult to read at a glance, and resetting the trip computer isn’t especially intuitive.
The good news is that the EX2’s driver-assistance systems are easy to switch off, so you don’t have to spend every journey fighting unwanted interventions.
Overall, the EX2 is at its best when you judge it as an affordable, comfortable and efficient small EV rather than expecting it to be exciting. It rides well, has plenty of space, is easy to drive and offers impressive efficiency and equipment for the money.
